Hello all,

I installed the 4.9.4 version of DNN on a fresh Win 2008 server with IIS7 and SQL Server 2008 and trying to browse with IE8. I followed the install instructions put up by Mitchell Sellers on his article at - http://www.mitchelsellers.com/blogs/articletype/articleview/articleid/250/installing-dotnetnuke-490-locally-nonvista.aspx where I -

1. Manually setup the DB

2. Manually copy the install files into a folder in Inetpub and setup the permissions. Also modify web.config as per the article above

3. Manually create an application in IIS 7 pointing to that DNN directory, and

4. Browse to my http://localhost/dnninstalldirectory/install/install.aspx

The only difference was that when setting up the webserver, I used the IIS 7 specific default settings. Anyways my install page updated the status showing install was fine and gave me the link to view my portal. But once I click on the link, or pull my http://localhost/dnninstalldirectory, I only get a directory browse view of the install directory - http://localhost/dnninstalldirectory/install

Is this a pointer to my installation gone bad? What troubleshooting can I do to figure out the problem? Anyone seen this or solved this before?

Thanks in advance

RG

When DNN installed, it setup a bad portal alias for you.

In the PortalAlias table, remove the /install part from the end of the alias, then restart the application and you should be set to go.
