Hello,

I am experimenting with the DNNNav menu in 4.9.4. I have 1 horizontal and 1 vertical menu.

I would like the vertical menu to just display the child menu items from a parent page

and the horizontal menu to only display the parent pages without displaying the sub pages

What is the best way to configure this? I have found StartTabId, but this relies on specifying a Tabid number rather that it dynamically taking the parent tab id - any tips, I'm sure I'm missing something obvious here,

Cheers,

Lee

Hello Lee,

you can try to start with your own experiments from my post here:
http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Community/Forums/tabid/795/forumid/109/threadid/308343/scope/posts/Default.aspx

This Menu Combination is displaying the Structure just as you mentioned.

[Edit]: I just saw that both NAV Controls have a Horizontal Orientation in that post, just tell the second Menu controlorientation='vertical' and you are almost there.

Hey Lee,

Glad to see you're playing with DNNNav, I hope to maybe see some new DNNCreative Vids outlining what you find. However, I am curious if you'll maybe play with the DNNNav 2 that's included with 5.x. I haven't had much of a chance myself but the new class system seems like it will allow for some very specific styling and targeting of menu items (.sel, .first, .last for example). Personally, the interim DNNNav that came with 4.9.x always drove me a bit nuts, I especially seem to recall an issue with separators and the class not being fully implemented, however that may have been corrected since. Wish I had some advice for you on targeting the secondary nav, but I haven't had a 4.9.x based project that has had a need for one yet, so I'm not quite certain. Still, good luck and hope to hear more about your experience with the Nav object soon, keep up the good work!
