Now that the core has fixed the problem with 5.1 and this site (hopefully they will blog about what the problem was) it sure seems like it is faster than it was on 4.9.4.

There are about 900 users on the site right now which is a couple hundred less than normal but it sure seems a lot faster to me.

Forums seem faster to me as well compared to the previous version.

Since I complain about the forum speed so often I want to jump in here and say that it is MUCH faster than I ever remember it.
