First of Congratulations and thank you to all core team members and developers and team who worked so hard to get this 5.1 release.

In DNN 5.0.1 there was known bug where if we delete users it leaves behind some dirty data's. Even the usernames stays unavailable. As far as I know DNN 5.1 did not resolve this issue. Can anyone give a guideline how we can manually clean up this dirt data's? I would really appreciate that.

Thanks in advance,

Tareq

This was not actually a bug.

Soft deletion of users was introduced in 5.0.1, in order to retain history.

The specific use case we are trying to stop is this.

  1. User registers from site
  2. User makes inflammatory comments in Forum or Blog
  3. User unregisters

By soft-deleting users the admin maintains the contact info in case of legal issues.

We do intend to add the ability in the User Accounts module for an Admin to "hard-delelte" users - but that feature slipped the 5.1 deadline, so will be in 5.1.1 or 5.2.0.

In addition in 5.1 we added the ability for a user that is "soft-delete" to reactivate (undelete) their account by registering with the same username and password.

Thanks Charles for the clarification. I never thought it that way and makes sense. Once that feature is added will we also have the ability to hard delete the existing users that has been already soft deleted or only the users from that point on?

Thanks again for you response. I was trying to get this answer for a while.
