I installed this module into my DNN site and followed all of the instructions in the PDF documentation, including correctly setting permissions in the module, but whether I'm logged in as host, or a registered user, the buttons for starting a thread or replying are not shown, even after I click on the forum that I would like to post to. I've spent many hours over the course of the past week, but without any luck. The users that I've logged on with all have permissions to start and reply. I'm a bit lost now and was wondering if anyone else has experienced this. I also went through this forum looking for answers, but nothing seems to solve the problem.

The host user isn't a portal user, so all Systemadmins have to been add manually as a user in the Module Settings and give him the permissions you want.  Also you have to check the permissions on each Forum over the Forum Manager.

Site users first added to the Forums on thier first visit, please dobble check the role permissions of your users in the Forum Manager.  Make sure you didn't have set the Forum behavior to restrict forums ( this restrict the users for some posting).

Thanks for trying to help me Matthias, but I still seem to be in the same place with my problem. I did log on as Admin and checked all of the permission settings on each of the three forums I created, using the Forum Manager. I even added manually, the admin and two other users I created and assigned them the permissions needed to post and reply. When I log in as Admin or either of the two users I created and click on the forum I want to check out, the page reloads right back to the forum home. If I don't log in and simply click on a forum, I'm at least taken to the page which would normally also display the buttons for posting, but don't because an unregistered user doesn't have permission to post. To be honest, apart from the documentation and DNN for Dummys, I've never seen either the buttons or the editior.

My module is set for the module to be viewed by all users, but edit permission is only given to Administrators. I believe that this is also correct, according to what I've read this is correct for the newer releases, such as the one I have.

Do you have any other suggestions I might try?

If you like I can take a look to your site, module and forum settings.
