I am running 5.0.1 authentication provider and 5.0.1 DNN.  Every couple of weeks the roles stop syncing.  This is a large goverment install, so rebooting the server can only be done in the evening.  The reboot is the only thing that fixed this problem before. 

I have over 500 users and 40 roles. 
I was able to use the windows login with a user, then I deleted the user to see if the ad provider would recreate the user.  It did not and now I can not login with that users.  I have setup impersonation and that does not seem to make a difference.  When I go into extension and click update it always works. 

Any ideas? I would happly setup a goto meeting and have someone look at our setup.

I don't know about the sync problem but the user deleted and then not able to login again I do. It's a bug in that version of the provider that's fixed in the 5.0.2 version for DNN 5.1. If upgrading to DNN 5.1 is not an option then you need to go into the database and delete all records related to that user in the Users, UserPortals, and aspNet tables (it would be a good idea to do a backup of the database before doing this).

We rebooted the server last night and it is working again.  I will schedule a time to upgrade the server.  Do you have any idea how to restart the AD role sync without rebooting?

Unfortunately I don't as I haven't had the same problem so I've got nothing to debug against.
