I have installed DNN 4.09.01  - SOURCE CODE version and it is working perfectly on WIN2008 and IIS7. I need to upgrade it to 5.01. I could not find any instructions. I'm a newbie could someone direct me to these resources

Questions: I presume I must download 5.01 source code? is this correct

I'm assuming just backing up the web.config files and the Database. Nothing important in the installation, still a learning tool.

Thank You

  • backup files and database
  • stop site
  • if you are using database.mdf database in your  connection strings, rename it and update both (uncommented) connection strings in web.config.
restart site and make sure, it is still working. restop site.
  • download source package
  • unzip hierarchically into DNN installation directory, overwriting existing files
  • browse your site, the upgrade wizard shall show up and perform database upgrades
  • open VS2008.sln  file with a text editor and adopt path of the web site.
  • done.

good luck.
