Has anyone worked on the issues here lately? I have still not figured out a way to have the AD working without having the impersonating user be in the administrators group.

Have you tried it "without" the impersonation?  Nine times out of ten you won't need to use it.

I'll have to set up an 2008 R2 server and test this out.  I'm running DNN under 2008 in a few places, but not with the AD module.

Yes I have tried it with impersonation off and with it on and no default account. Still the only way I have found it to work is to have the impersonation on and have the an AD account listed as default with that account in the Local Administrators group.

Today I installed a fresh copy of DNN 5.2.2 onto a fresh install of Windows Server 2008 R2, got it up and running then activated the AD Provider and tested it out.

Works like a champ!  No impersonation, no adding to local admin group, no special settings needed.
