I've been noticing this on the past several sites I've used the DNNNav element on. Each of these sites are running 4.9.x and show the same behavior:

IE8 and Firefox - When the user clicks on a root menu item, the entire top-level menu gets a dotted border around it (white in IE8, black in FF).

Example: http://imgur.com/LwWfY.jpg

I'm assuming this is something with the :active state, but after hours of work with Firebug and IE Dev Toolbar I can't seem to target the correct property. I notice that the Extropy skin doesn't show this same effect so I assume it's something that I'm not addressing when starting with a blank menu system.

Thoughts?

Just add the following css to your stylesheet

a, a:active, a:focus {
  outline:none;
  border:none;
}

No luck, but it's given me a direction to follow. I hadn't even thought about the :focus or outline attribs.

Thanks!

It's an outline setting and can be removed from all elements by using the following CSS:

*{
outline:none;
}

Rick.
