Does this release introduce the changes that were to be introduced in the membership/roles/profile provider models?  We were considering writing our own providers, but when we asked about it here on the forums, we were told to "wait for the next release of DNN" because it would have significant changes in the provider model used for membership/roles/profile.

Is the 4.0.3 release the release that was being referred to?  Or should we await another release (perhaps a 4.1 release?)?

no, it was intended to fix an issue particular to 4.02 (an issue with caching that only turns up under load on asp.net 2.0). The 3.3/4.1 release contains the changes you may have heard about (i.e. abstracting membership out into a dotnetnuke API that uses the MS memberrole provider as it's default). Charles has been blogged about some of the changes on his blog here

If you are writing you own providers, then the newly published source code @ http://weblogs.asp.net/scottgu/archive/2006/04/13/442772.aspx will be a big help.

definately not. DNN 4.0.3 ist just a stabilization release for ASP.Net caching issues. All new functions will be part of DNN 3.3/4.1, that is expected in a couple of weeks (5+).

I had a feeling this was the case... still no word on when we should expect 4.1?
