Environment:

DNN 5.1, Server 2003, IIS 6, SQL 2005

In IIS I set up a virtual directory under the Defaut Web Site to point to my DNN location, C:\MyDomain.   After successfully installed DNN, the first Portal Aliases created was localhost/MyDomain.  I then added MyDomain and the server IP Address to the Portal Aliases.  My problem is I can only access the website through http://localhost/MyDomain/ from the server.  DNN does not response to http://MyDomain or http://IP Address (I added MyDomain to the hosts file to point to the local IP address).  And http://localhost/ gives me the imfamous Under Construction page.  I suspect this is an IIS setup issue.  Since there is nothing under the default C:\Inetpub\wwwroot\, IIS throws up the Under Construction page and failed to redirect to the virtual directory.  How can I access the website without having to specify the localhost in the url, http://MyDomain instead of http://localhost/MyDomain.

Thank You in advance.

KJN

if you installed DNN in a virtual directory of localhost, you can access the site via localhost/directory or [machine]/directory only. if you want to access it using domain name only, you need to create a WEBSITE and install DNN in its root.

Sebastian, thanks for the quick response.  That was it.  I need to setup New Web Site in IIS, one for each instance of DNN, rather than New Virtual Directory.  Problem solved.
