Why would I pay for access to a site when I could read the cached page in Google?  I think securing the content would be the way to go as well.

Alright.. A lil help here.. What is the logic behind this module. I have checked on Google and they suggest First Click Free, but it doesn't fit the picture. I want Google to index the sites that are password protected. Is there any option or logic how I can do this?

You could write a simple redirect module that checked your UserAgent string and if you were a bot if would let you through and it you were a user it would redirect you to another tab with some blurb on it - it's tricky though as Google would prob. see this as Blackhat SEO. It is easily spoofed too and would only fool a % of users.

Some big news sites get away with it (FT?) but they have Googles backing. Some stop their data being cached on Google to prevent people viewing the cached version.

Maybe you need to use something like Ventrian NA and show half the content to both bots and humans and the Read More takes you to a Role-Restricted full version.
