I wonder if someone could tell me the best way and place to programmatically display different logoFiles for different roles. Thanks for any help in advance

UPDATE:

So I did some testing and added the following code snippet to default.aspx.vb at the tail end of Page_Init... does anyone see a problem with this or have a better idea? It seems to work

Dim userInfo as UserInfo = HttpContext.Current.Items("UserInfo")

If(userInfo.IsInRole("specialRole"))

     PortalSettings.LogoFile= "NewLogoFile.jpg"

End If

another option is to use the role image, you are able to specify in admin :: Security Roles

you may create a custom skin object retrieving and displaying it

Thanks for your response Sabatian... I wonder if you could clarify what you mean. When I inspect the 'Edit Security Role ' page I only see an icon choice for the role... I don't believe this would display a different  logo or skin, would it?

Frank I know I'm probably stating the obvious - but have you considered upgrading to 4.9.4 or even 5.1.1 when it comes out?. The security issues alone make this essential (unless you are running via an intranet or something).

Thanks...

Alex Shirley

Frank,

I agree with Alex, that an upgrade to DNN 4.9.4 would be strongly advisable due to a couple of security issues fixed.

An icon can be any image, and currently this setting is not used anywhere. You could easily create a RoleLogo Skin object (like the logo skin object) displaying the first role logo for the current user in the skin of your site.
