I am having an issue withe the FCKeditor in DNN.  I have a text module that I want to be able to upload images  to our database.

I setup a folder for the items in the File Manager and applied apropriate permissions.  I then go to the editor, and click insert image.  I select the Browser Server button, and select the newly created folder.  I then upload an image into this folder.  After uploading, I noticed that the image did not appear in the gallery.  After a little investigating, I determined the file was uplaoded correctly.  There is a record for it in the database, and it shows up properly in the File Manager.  I was even able to link to it using a LinkClick.aspx url and have it displayed as I would like.

The problem comes in with I am not going to be the one editting the content of this text module.  I need to make it easy for the user to upload images to the database and retrieve them.  Currenlty uploading is easy, but retrieving the proper URL for the image is not.  Is there a way to work around this issue, or something else I can do withouth having to write my own module to handle this in some way?

One final note, I need to store these images in a database because we have multiple servers setup for load balancing.  So, we need a single point of storage for these images.  Thanks for the help.

Jason,

if you upload an image using FCK ImageGallery, it should appear immediately in the editor. I noticed the past days, that it is not automatically selected, but usually the image shuld appear immediately. Please check your Host Settings and make sure, to have AutoSync enabled. BTW: which DNN version are you running?

Storing images in a database is not advisable. Even in a web farm, you need to have a single joint file store as well as all servers need to use the same sql server (cluster). Please check out web farm configuration guide on Resouces > Documentation > Downloadable Files in menu above.

I am running DNN 04.08.04.

I double checked, and I do have AutoSync enabled, but the images from the database are not appearing.  I will look into your recomendations for web farm configuration and go from there.  Thanks for the help.

AFAIK, FCK Image gallery does not support other folder types than filesystem - insecure.

I came across this issue recently and am trying to figure out how to direct my clients about using FCK images browser in secured folders.
Does your last statement, Sebastian, means that there is no way to select an image from secured folder that way?
Is there any workaround for this issue that is good for the none technical whiz site admin to use?
