Hello.

We are preparing to go live with our DNN site very soon and I have a (hopefully) easy question to answer.  We are running TrendMicro antivirus software and I am wondering if there are any DNN directories or files I need to exclude from begin scanned.  I was unable to find any information one way or the other on this.

Any help would be appreciated.

You should set up DNN like any other IIS application. I don't exclude any files/folders myself.

Further info here (mainly unrelated):

Exchange here:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/823166

ISA Server here:

http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc707727.aspx

SQL Server:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/309422

Microsoft OS:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/822158

Not sure if there is a document for IIS.

I use Trend myself, I particularly like their smart host software which has antivirus/antispam/IP validation support.

Cheers

Alex

Hope this helps:

If you have IIS installed, exclude:
a.) The IIS compression directory (default compression directory is %systemroot%\IIS Temporary Compressed Files)
b.) %systemroot%\system32\inetsrv folder
c.) Files that have the .log extension
Refer to the following knowledge base articles for reference:
KB817442 - IIS 6.0: Antivirus Scanning of IIS Compression Directory May Result in 0-Byte File
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/817442
KB821749 - Antivirus software may cause IIS to stop unexpectedly
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/821749

Excellent - I'm taking note myself - NB the MS kb articles only apply to IIS6.

Thanks for the great info.  I'm wondering if there are any folders in the DNN install itself that we need to exclude from antivirus scanning.  Any info on that?
