Hi,

I have one of the free skins from Nina's site (which I don't think matters for this question). I am kind of new to the whole DNN structure and skinning concept.

My question is, how do I change the labels and links for the top Menu (is this the SolPartMenu?). The labels and links came with the skin and I just want to customize a little. I can't seem to figure this out. It seems like it is also integrated with the Breadcrumb control as well. I just want to change the links\labels.

Using skin XDShareMe

Thx

Sandy

Did you download the skinning documents - there is some good reading information on there.

And also I have a CHM file created with the skinning document to make it easier to navigate - you could download that.

What you need to look at in particular is the SkinObject section - where you can define the look and feel and display of the text - whether it's the formatting in CSS or how the date is rendered.

The solpart menu is another area on it's own, but have a look through the skinning documents to start with and you can start to learn the relationship between dnn, css and the skinning files.

Hi Sandy,

The answer to your question is:
The names for those menu items (yes it's the Solpart menu) come from the page names. When you edit or create a page, the Page Name you type in automatically becomes the menu link... and then also the breadcrumb link.

In the settings for each page you can also specify a parent page.. this then creates a (Solpart) submenu for that page.

The convenience is that the menu is auto-generated as you create your pages.

That's the easy part of making DNN menus. Good luck with the rest :)

Oh Sorry - I thought the post word customisation meant changing the look and feel, not the behaviour, which meant changing the CSS Classes.
