Hi,

I want to create a portal alias, such a way that the IP or the machine name is not visible.

For example - http://100.1.33.22/DotNetNuke

i want the above to be in this format http://Nuke , so that neither the IP or the machine name is visible.

Please help me. else confirm whether it is possible.

Advance thanks

You will have to use the IP or domain to get requests to your server. If Nuke is a virtual directory and not the domain, I'm not sure this is possible.

Not possible.  The Uniform Resource Locator (URL) doesn't have this option.  It's not DNN, it's everything.  The portion of the URL between the // and the first / has to designate the system somehow.

But, there is a way around this.  Rename the system to Nuke and make sure that DNN is installed in the root of the web site.  As long as Default.aspx is the default document in IIS, http://Nuke will load your site.  This relies on the NetBIOS name of the system so it won't work off the internet or anywhere that WINS or a NetBIOS broadcast won't reach (across a router, etc).
