I want to create a layer in my skin where I can place certain modules that are only visible to logged-in users.  Can anyone tell me if this is possible in DNN and how to do it?

Thanks

I'm not familiar with the phrase, "layer in a skin" - BUT...

If you want some content (modules) only visible to logged in users, the permissions support this 100% and more. You can specify roles and assign view (and deny in DNN5) to those roles to further fine tune who can see what content.

Hi

If I underestand you correctly, you can do it in DNN.

You should create logged-in user pages and set view-permissions to logged-in user appropertiately and set desired skin to those pages.

So you have some pages with desired skin for logged-in users only.

Best

Thanks for the replies but it's not what I am trying to do.

I want to create a footer for my site that is always visible to the logged in user.   Setting page permissions or module permissions will not work because I need this layer open all the time, regardless of what page the user is on.

The actual layer itself will be fixed to the bottom of the screen and only about 250 pixels high.  It's this layer that I want to be invisible to users not logged in which is why I need to do it via a layer in the skin.

What I do is create a page that has permissions set for "All Users", so everybody can use it.

I then add modules to it.

Under Settings for each module, if I want everybody to see it I tick "Inherit Page Permissions",  if I want only registered users to see it, then I just tick "Registered Users"

I have quite a few pages set up like this.  I create an html module advising "Members, once you are logged in you will see more..." so they know.

I use mine to create pages with "teasers" on, so I have some information, the answer/rest can only be seen by registered users, so people are advised to register to read the private modules.
