The simple answer is no.  I thought i'd solved it by giving IUSR access to the folder, but that doesn't seem to be the case.  Do you have any more info on how your system was setup?  We're running our live server on a virtual machine with windows server 2008, the host machine has the same OS.

Try doing all the following at once:

Turn your site off in IIS
Delete the cache files in the folder its complaining about.
Clear the cache also in DNN
Make sure your folder has NETWORK_SERVICE full control
also try giving IUSR full control to see what happens
Restart the application pool
Turn back on

Probably unrelated but the machine thats causing these errors is also regularly crashing due to a dodgy hard drive (failed SMART test)

in IIS 7, replace "NETWORK_SERVICE" by the account specified to be used in app pool configuration.

For security reasons, IUsr shall only be granted read and execute access.

I'm looking at the Application Pool.  I was using DefaultAppPool which has an identity NetworkService (i'm assuming thats what you mean by the AppPool's user?)  Well network service already has full control.

It has the whole time i've had these errors.  I've removed full control of IUSR and everything seems to still be working ok.

The problem with the errors i've been getting is they don't happen all the time.  I do something like clear the cache and the errors disappear then a day later they come back.  However it's been a while since i've thought about this and i think i may have solved this a few days ago but can't remember what i did.  The event log doesn't have any errors in this week.  But i still stand by my point that NetworkService has had full control from the beginning.

Either way my problem is solved....I think

might there be a virus or disk compression tool running on the server interfering IIS activities?
