I got my site updated to 5.1.1 (thanks for the help) and now I'm getting a password error when I try to log on.  I can not get logged into the site.

GOT OT LOVE UPGRADES!!!!

ok, went to the database to get logged in (that can't be the right way to fix my password problem).  I got looged in, tried to make a child portal and the "create portal" button does nothing.... the page just sits there.  Anyone else haveing this issue?

It sounds like you used the "install" version to upgrade and forgot to copy the machineKey codes from the original web.config

You are 100% correct I did forget to change the machine codes.... damn I hate user errors...
