i found details on this one here: http://www.codeproject.com/KB/aspnet...rect_loop.aspx

  1. i've already ensured that all the bindings for ajax (system.web.services) have been updated in my web.config to point to version 3.5.0.0
  2. i've verified that the web hosting provider (discountasp.net) has framework 3.5 installed on my site.
  3. i've also verified that my portal alias does not have a trailing "/"

after reading that article, are there any dnn vets that could help point me in the right direction?
thanks!

ok so i kept digging and here was the issue...

  1. i had the system.web.extensions.dll in the bin directory of my site
  2. i had the trust level in my web.config set to "Medium"

this wasn't working because the site was following the prescribed probing path set in the web.config and trying to reflect on the system.web.extensions.dll in the site's bin.  since full trust is required for this, the error was thrown on reflect, and redirect.. rinse.. repeat.. so to say.

in order to resolve this, i simply removed the system.web.extensions.dll file from the bin of my site and VOILA! now i have a new issue to tackle, which i'll open in a separate thread.

cheers!

I am still having an issue with the infinite redirect in DNN.  I have researched this quite a bit and have already tried a few things to resolve this.  For one of the sites with this issue the orginal site is ok, but one of the portals has the dreaded infinite redirect.  For the other site with this issue the www.domain.com site comes up fine, but the domain.com url brings up the infinite redirect.  I have installed the .net3.5 patch, stopped/started IIS, changed the web.config to use version=3.5.0.0, and then I also upgraded both to DNN5.1.1 and so far nothing has worked.  The System.Web.Extensions.dll is not in the bin folder at this point, so that did not seem to be the fix either.  If anyone knows of anything else that I need to be trying please let me know.  Thanks.
