The Links Module could definitely be updated to not use the button. There is one problem with that, tho: there would be no way to edit the links. Currently, you select a link and click the one edit icon to modify it. If the drop-down automatically went to the target URL, it wouldn't give you the option to edit it. To fix this, I was thinking the button would only be displayed for editors. That would solve that problem. I started looking into a small fix for the Links Module, but got side-tracked. I'll re-look at it today.

I can get the module to look the way you want without having to recompile, but there are two problems that make it almost useless. First, this change would affect all Links Module instances. No module could ever use the Go button. Second, and more importantly, you wouldn't be able to edit links in the drop-down view. You can add them, but not edit. You'd have to switch to the list view to edit them.

If this is ok, let me know and I can give you the fix. Otherwise, I think it's almost useless. There are a few things that I thought of trying, but this really isn't the best way to do it - the "right" way would be to just recompile the module.

I suggest you check to see if this requirement is in Gemini. If not, add it.

Michael thanks for looking at this - and you know what - I've got the nestwood images links module on client site that uses a slideshow and the outcome is for meto edit it, I have to switch to list view, which makes it produce this huge page, but it's a great idea and I'd like to see how hard it would be to implement this on a site I'm working on.

Can you put the code here to change it or is that a big job - I think for some people looking at wanting to tweak their install it's great, but I suppose I should say that this is reagarded as a core change because upgrading the site would overwrite it, which is something people might not be aware of.

Thanks for this nifty piece of information. It just helps me learn that these clients who want something specific can have them, sometimes at a cost, but hey - at least you can offer it.
