I am trying to create a copy of a DNN web site.

I completed the following steps...

  • Created a new IIS web site on the server.
  • Copied the existing web site's files to the folder for the new IIS site.
  • Backed up the current database.
  • Restored the backup to a new database.
  • Edited the web.config to changed the connection string to point to this new database.
  • Updated the PortalAlias table with the new web sites alias.
  • Restarted the application pool and web site.

However, when I try to load it up it goes into a continuous redirect.   Firefox returns: Firefox has detected that the server is redirecting the request for this address in a way that will never complete.

Does anyone have idea what steps I missed or completed incorrectly.

Figured it out, it was a module on the home page causing the problem.  :-(
