I recently purchased my fourth set of skins, and this new set has a psd file that has an image of a modle that obviouly I need to replace with my own image.

Easy enough right?

I fully know how to replace the image and flatten and save as a png or jpeg, but a total newbie on where all of the orginal files are placed, and how to replace the image in the module.

This set didn't have any documentation, other than a boiler plate terms of use.

Can anyone direct me to any tutorials on how to replace the image.

The image is not with-in an ordinary module, it's like embedded somewhere.

Any help would be appreciated.

Karr,

Your skin files if uploaded via "Host" -> "Skins", they will be stored in the /portals/_default/skins and then in a folder for the skin.

your container files if uploaded via "host" -> "skins", they will be stored in the /portals/_default/containers and then in a folder for the containers

If you uploaded via "Admin" -> "Skins", the _default will be replaced with your portalid.

This questions would probably have a better audience in the Skinning forum, but I may be able to help. You should be able to extract the skin files from the package that was purchased and look through the images that are in the skin.

Find the images that needs to be replaced. I would double check the dimensions on the image you want to replace, make the chagnes to the PSD and save to the appropriate format (the same as what is provided in the skin package) and then replace the original image from the skin package with your new file.

Zip the files back up and install the skin again. It should replace the original file and show up on the next refresh of your page.

As an alternative to messing with the package you could create the new image and find the image file on your server and FTP a new version to the site. The downside to this is if, for whatever reason, you were to install your skin again it would over write this file and you would need to uplaod the modified version again.

Hope this helps.

Hey  Mitch!

I really appreciate the information. I'll look in both places. I'll be sure to note which method I up load, or just be sure to always upload via host. That's great info. I wouldn't think at first that they would go to two different places; but of coarse they would.

Thank you,

Karr
