I just was wondering on the future road maps if there was any plans to improve the core filemanager. As there is plenty of documented methods out there for supporting large uploads.  I believe MIcheal has mention silverlight also i was wondering with ajax if was possible.

We have some files approx 80+ mb in site the need in a more broadband time, sharing large files without the need to ftp is something that is becoming a more and more needed thing.  I know about the increaing the timeout method in your web.config file but this can be a extra headache for some users not used to editing config files.

Anyone else share my need and if so if plans are on a roadmap would it be possible to let us know.

Regards
Craig

I don't know about future roadmap plans.  I do know though that a 80+ mb upload via a web browser is just something that still feels a bit funny to me.

Hi Mich, yea it's mainly our podcasts that we have that size. What we've been doing is getting them to send them me to ftp the files manually.  As you can appreicate though this is mainly a time delay for users as i don't want none developers to have access to ftp access.  Also the admin administers everything in dnn so is kind a pain for the one thing as this is a weekly process for the shows we run to have to be uploaded manually.

Have a look at Ventrian File Links which uses a flash based uploader (see http://www.ventrian.com/Products/Modules/FileLinks.aspx). I have been using this to upload large files to my websites and it works great.
