I just give it another try and noticed that the log after upgrading showed tons of messages like this "Cannot grant, deny, or revoke permissions to sa, dbo, entity owner, information_schema, sys, or yourself.", both in the DNN 5.1.1 and in the DNN 5.1.2 script.

The upgrade has been performed, but with these errors. It would be great if anyone knows what might be causing this because DNN tells me "Critical Updates" but this way there is a no-go for upgrading on my live installations.

Marc

Marc,

did you grant dbowner permission to the database user performing the upgrade (either in usual connection string or dedicated connection string within your web.config).

Hi Sebastian,

I haven't changed anything on the providers. Just unzipped the upgraded package and copied it to my installation directory (like always). Is this what you meant?

Marc

 Hi Sebastian,

I just have been installing the DNN512 on the live website and I am not receiving the upgrade error on the sql data provider. It was against my nature to update the live DNN installation without knowing whether I will bump into issues or not, but at this moment I didn't have another option.

I only received an error while installing the HTML_Community_05.01.03 module ("Installing Package File HTML_Community_05.01.03_Install:  Error!") When looking in the log in the host settings of the DNN installation it actually showed nothing (which "generall indicates that the script ran successfully"). I already noticed in another posting over here that it has been reported at Gemini

 Thanks for the support.

Regards,
Marc
