The more I test this the more I become convinced it is an IE8 bug. It doesn't happen with Firefox, hence nothing shows in firebug (thanks Timo) and it doesn't appear to happen in IE6 or IE7.

I have a hunch it may be related to security issues, ActiveX and the resize widget in DNN5x so that is the next thing on the list to test when time permits.

I found the solution to this! Login as Host. Click Admin menu and then Skins. In the Skins list of mini preview windows you will see index 1024. Click Preview and wait for the page to load. In my case the 1 item remaining did not appear, the page loaded as expected (Yes!). Then click Apply for index 1024 and voila the pages now load as expected. I did research on IE8 1 item remaining issues and there was a thread that stated it was a CSS stylesheet bug in IE8, somthing about not able to handle loading stylesheets dynamically. So then I returned to the Skins section on the Portal and tried the steps above. Hope this helps someone! Rob formthis.com
