I noticed that when a page is deleted from the admin panel it still lives in the database but just has the IsDeleted attribute set to on. Is there a way to make dnn delete the page out of the database?

Hey Ryan,

You can go to the Admin -> Recycle Bin page and remove the tabs from there. Emptying the recycle bin on a regular basis is a great way to keep your DotNetNuke site clean and orderly. But having that "extra step" of emptying the recycle bin really saves you in case you accidentally delete a page or a module from a page.

Hope that helps,

Ian

Thanks,

The reason I ask is because I am creating a module that creates and deletes pages. I have a databound dropdown menu to select the parent page of a new tab, old pages that have been deleted still show up in the list because they still exist in the database. Is there code to  programmatically clear the recycle bin? I'm sure there is. I will look into it.

Thanks for your help

-Ryan

Hey Ryan,

Rather than empty the recycle bin programatically, I suggest that you filter out the deleted pages from your drop down menu by checking to make sure IsDeleted is not equal to true. This is how the rest of DNN works and will provide a consistent experience for your site's users and keep you from erasing potentially important items in the recycle bin.

Take care,

Ian

Hey Ian,

I think I know what you mean. I will give it a shot and report my findings.

Thanks for everything
