DotNetNuke Version: 5.1.1

Is it possible to automatically redirect a user back to a child portal (say http://portal/child) if they signin by clicking http://portal/DesktopModules/AuthenticationServices/ActiveDirectory/WindowsSignin.aspx from a link within the child portal?  If not, is it possible to create a copy of WindowsSignin.aspx local to the child portal that would have the same effect?

We provide a link to WindowsSignin.aspx for users who logout from within http://portal/child.  This does allow the user to successfully log back in, but they land at the parent portal home page where they have to click a link to return to the child portal.  We'd like for the user to be redirected to the child portal home page or, preferrably, the referring child portal page with the WindowsSignin.aspx link that was clicked.

Thanks in advance for any help!

I don't remember if I've ever tested linking to WindowsSignin.aspx from a child portal or not. You could try copying the .aspx and the .vb file into your child portal directory and linking to that.

Thanks for the suggestion.  I copied over the entire \DesktopModules\AuthenticationServices\ActiveDirectory folder to my child portal folder (making sure to set Windows Integrated Security in IIS) without success - see error below.  I did notice there is not a .vb file in the original ActiveDirectory folder...should there be?  Any other suggestions...?

I just thought of another option (or maybe a feature request?) - can I pass the referring URL (or tabid) in the querystring to WindowsSignin.aspx and have it redirect me back to the referring page...?

Accepted Answer

I don't know if that'll work or not.

I forgot that the .vb file isn't already in there (sorry, was busy at work when I responded). If you get the source version you can pull the .vb file out of the Resouces.zip for DNN 5. For DNN 4 it's in the Source Files.resources file (just change .resources to .zip). I would only move the WindowsSignin.aspx and the WindowsSignin.aspx.vb files in the child folder to start with.
