After a 4.9.4 to 5.1.1 upgrade the only problem I've found so far is that the host file manager breaks.  The admin file manager works just fine.

The site is running on windows 2008 / iis7.  Here's the error message:

Error: File Manager is currently unavailable.
DotNetNuke.Services.Exceptions.ModuleLoadException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object. ---> System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object. at DotNetNuke.Modules.Admin.FileManager.FileManager.get_HasPermission(String permissionKey) at DotNetNuke.Modules.Admin.FileManager.FileManager.ManageSecurity() at DotNetNuke.Modules.Admin.FileManager.FileManager.Page_Load(Object sender, EventArgs e) --- End of inner exception stack trace ---

Any help much appreciated

I tried this again from a fresh backup.  Again no upgrade errors but after the upgrade the host file manager errors out without displaying anything other than the error first posted.  The admin file manager works fine.  How should I proceed from here?  This is on a production machine and I'm the only host account and I have full control over the server, so do I have to have the host file manager?  But if this might come back to haunt us later I'd like to revert quickly so content workers can get back to their thing.

The only related stuff I've been able find doesn't seem helpful:

So I upgraded to 5.4.4 and this error has gone away. However, I still can't actually use either the Host File Manager nor the Admin File manager. In both cases all of the buttons except refresh are disabled. I can't sync the file system, can't add or delete folders, can't upload or search. No errors in the logs either. Any idea what to look at next? Thanks, Karim
