I have the new beta gallery installed but not sure if I have the permissions set correct. I am able to log in as a test user and download images, but I can't upload images. The only way I have found to be able to do this is give the users Edit permissions on the page. If I do this they can delete pics and add new albums.

How do I set it so they can only upload images to the album they are viewing?

In this version of the gallery it is necessary to grant edit permission on the module (not the page) to any user or role that will be uploading images. This will also mean that the user with edit permissions will also be able to delete images or add new albums which will not fit your use case. In the next version of the gallery we plan to make the permission set much more granular by providing separate custom permissions for create child album, add files, delete album, delete files, etc.

You may also wish to explore the concept of gallery ownership.

In the gallery configuration's Private Gallery section, check the "Is Private" box and assign top level gallery ownership to the Admin user.

  1. The Admin user then creates one or more albums.
  2. And in the settings for each album assigns album ownership to the desired user who will be able to manage that album.
  3. All users will be able to view any album in the gallery.
  4. The user having ownership of an album will be able to upload files (and delete files/create child albums) in "their" album but not in other non-owned albums.
