Hi,

I'm a real newbie to this and just trying this out for the first time.  I searched quite a lot of articles regarding DNN manual installation in GoDaddy and finally just decided to have a shot at it.  Everything looked well until I got this error (I'm just pasting what I received in my browser) - no clue what it imeans...  Is there anything else I should modify?

Thanks in advance for support,

Steps taken:
1. Downloaded DNN5.1.1 Installation Package
2. Modified web.config (inserted DB info in connectionSettings, appSettings; customErrors...)
3. FTP Installation Package to website (with modified web.config).
4. Accessed the website to initiate manual install.

Olan-
Did you kick off installation from the root or from a subdirectory?  GoDaddy does not allow the installation to directly create writeable files/directories in the root which is the source of most complaints regarding GoDaddy and DNN.

mamlin,
Installation was made from the Root (FTP Installation Package directly under Root).
Anyways, after 3 attempts of emptying the Root and re-uploading the Installation Package (including deletion/re-creation of DB), it finally worked.  Don't ask me how, I just did the same procedure as before....
Just want to share now how it worked for me in the end....
Just to be clear, I have a GoDaddy free hosting account out of my domain account.  This is why I had to make the maual install.  GoDaddy's Hosting Connection for DNN is not available for free hosting account.

Steps taken:
1. Create a temporary directory (e.g. _dnnTmp).  This will make the Root (and its attributes) visible in the Control Panel's File Manager.
2. Set WRITE permission on Root.
3. Create Sql Server 2005 DB.
4. Downloaded DNN5.1.1 Installation Package.
5. Modified web.config (inserted DB info in connectionSettings, appSettings; customErrors...).
6. FTP Installation Package to website (with modified web.config).
7. Accessed the website to initiate manual install.
