I am intending to use DNN for my web project.  I am new to is and used it only for basic project where no much development were required.

Now I am building  a social network that requires a lot of custom  module development.  I was just wondering about best practice of

Development.  Does DNN has a base library with classes that manage configuration, DB access, error logging or I will better of creating my on that will be use across modules.  Since I never developed any modules  I am trying to figure out bets way of approaching it.   Could I create base libraries that will be shared across all my modules?

Any other useful tips to DNN beginner will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for help

there is Module Development guide downloadable from Support > Documentation > Downloadable Documents in the menu above, besides there are a number of books about development. I also recomment to check out free online tutorials provided by Michael Washington at dotnetnuke.adefwebserver.com.

You may want to check out Lee Sykes' module development tutorials over at www.dnncreative.com , he is going over how to develop using Open Web Studio Studio. A subscription to Lee's site is, in my opinion, worth every penny.

I have also published a "DotNetNuke Module/Extension Development" best practices guide that you might want to check out.
