Help! Help! Help!

This issue is really getting on my !@#$.

When I update a page, add a module or change settings, i have to do it twice before the setting is saved and refresh, delete caches multiple times before the change is reflected in the browser.  In some cases I have to restart the applicaiton before I see the change.

I am randomly getting page view state errors.

If I have a page that looks like it is set, a navigate away and then back to it may display a completely different version of it (from the past).

I have compression off, caching set to memory and set the authenticated cache to NoCache.  I have set IE to check for a new page version on every visit.  I have tried all sorts of combinations of performance settings with no real joy.

I have tried IE, Firefox and both again on a different computer.

I have got my hoster to check pool settings and even restart the application pool.  All of these things appear to fix the issue initially, but quickly the behavoir returns.

Can someone shed any light on what is goin on here?  Please?

Hi,

I have a similar problem. But I don't know if it is really the same.

I upgraded my DNN from version 4.9.4 to 5.1.1 and now I get view state errors. But these errors are not randomly ... it's systematical.
Every time a link performs a postback, I get an error (a really stupid message from DNN: "An error has occurred.").
BUT only the fist time I click the postback link. If I call the page again and click on the link (i.e. Login or Search), it works!

I also tried almost all combinations of performance settings and the only way I found is to set the cache time for all modules of a page to 0.
Otherwise you can set Host / Performance Settings / Cache Settings to "None".

But if DNN cache is enabled AND the cache time of a module on the page is not zero, the postback link ends up with the view_state error.

It is a really big problem for me, because if a customer try to search something on my page he will get an error and I can do nothing against.

I think it is a caching problem of DNN 5.1.1 and have to be fixed as soon as possible!

OK! I found the reason.
It is not a caching problem of DNN5.1.1, but of the module MLAdvAnnouncements (www.apollo-software.nl) under DNN 5.1.1.

If I set CacheTime of all MLAdvAnnouncements modules to zero, it works like a charm.
I already posted to the support forum of Apollo Software.
