Hi,

I want to upgrade my DNN4 installation to DNN5 and at the same time implement some enhancements. So far I have only used standard modules but I want to dig deeper and get a Visual Studio 2008 environment set up on my Vista machine.

I backed up the sql server and restored it on my desktop sql server, copied all files and configured the local IIS and the installation seems to work; the problem is that the initial page of my default portal redirects to a different site and I cannot find a way to get around this with URL hacks or even by deleting all redirect URLs from the Tabs table.

I also cannot open any of the other portals since I don't know how to set a working alias - I am surfing to http://localhost/dnn only. Can I set aliases that work local to reach the other portals?

TIA for any hints on these rookie questions.

Regards

Tim

You will need to update the portalalias table in your databae. You'll have to add the correct alias for each portal, i.e. localhost/dnn for the portal you listed above. Then you will have to restart the application in IIS or just modify the config and save the file. Once you have done this for the first portal, you should be able to hit the portal and login as the super user. Then you can update the portalalias for each portal from its site settings.

Thank you, John. Worked perfectly.
