I have been looking around for a way to open links from the SolPart menu in a new window, but I haven't been able to find a simple solution. I found a place on the web that suggested entering some JavaScript code into the URL bar, but other than that is there any type of module or hack that I can use to allow some links in the SolPart menu to open in new windows?

Hi Jake,

I am not sure if it is posible, but have you try to move to the DNNMenu?  The solpartMenu is old and isn't longer includet in the DNN packages.

Regards

Matthias

Come to think of it, I may actually be using the DNNMenu. I have a fresh install of DNN 5 Community Edition, so I would be using whatever menu system is the default with that. Would that be the DNNMenu?

Is there any reason you don't want to use the Javascript technique?

It does work in both DNN 4 and 5.  I believe that's the only way to do it right now.

For other people that might want to see what the script looks like, just put this in your address bar in the Link URL in the advanced settings of the page.

void(window.open('http://google.com'))

This worked perfectly, thanks! I had seen a few other JavaScript alternatives out there, but they all kept giving a callback so it would redirect the original page to something that said "[object]" on it, but using void worked perfectly. If anybody is looking to use this, here is exactly as it needs to be added into the external URL field in DotNetNuke:

 void(window.open('URLHERE'))

Thanks again for your help!
