ASCX ?

I am realtively new to DNN.  I have purchased a skin and was given the html, css, and xml files.  I am editing both the css and html files uploading the skin, and then parsing them. (I believe this creates the ascx file?) In many forums I have seen help to edit the ascx files.  Is there a way that I can get the ascx file after it is created in the parseing process so I can try some of the editing suggestions I have seen?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Hi Pete,

Your correct, the xml & html files are what is used to create the ascx files. You can of course use only ascx files as well. In DNN 5x there is also options to not include the xml files and inline the settings that would have been previously been in the xml file.

Yes, you can get at the parsed ascx file. depending on how you installed it they will be in ~/Portals/_Default/Skins/SkinName folder. If you did the install only to a single portal then replace _Default with the PortalID.

If you edit the ASCX file, don't forget to delete or rename the original HTML file, because it will overwrite the ASCX you changed if someone "accidentally" parses the skin on a later date.

which means you would loose you changes..
