I am trying to create a menu which looks like this:

Points to note:

  • The Heading1 and heading2 are not links.
  • The left column has no relation with the right column.
  • If  I click the an item(say Item1) in the left column, it should open the page and in the content of the page, it should display all the elements of left column(item1, blogs,directory.... and so on) but it shouldn't display the right column elements

Can this be done using dnnNAV? I know this menu is very tricky but can this be achieved? Please give your valuable suggestions.

This is the sample menu:

Thanks in advance,

GR

Important points:

Heading and heading2 are at the same level as products, development, support, partners, news, about but they should appear under community... any suggestions on how this can be done?

So the heading are on level 0 but they should render as a submenu of community ? (the question is why BTW...)

If that's true I don't think any menu component will render that out of the box, so you would have to use one that uses templating, like this one :

Thanks for the reply.

There are two sub-divisions in the company: Division A and Division B.

I should create About A and About B which are at level 0 but they should appear as level 1 under About Us.

I hope my point is clear. Is this acheivable using DNN? Any comments/suggestion?

Thanks again,

GR

I would use a menu structure like this:

Main1
Main2
    Main2Sub1
        Main2Sub1Sub1
        Main2Sub1Sub2
        Main2Sub1Sub3
        Main2Sub1Sub4
        Main2Sub1Sub5
    Main2Sub2
        Main2Sub2Sub1
        Main2Sub2Sub2
        Main2Sub2Sub3
        Main2Sub2Sub4
        Main2Sub2Sub5
Main3
Main4

Main2Sub1 and Main2Sub2 would be your "headings"

(I still don't see why these menu items should be on level 0, if they are you are making things a lot more complicated, if not nearly impossible)

If you use an unordered list menu (snapsis nav menu, housemenu or the one I mentioned before) you should be able to create the menu you need.
But you do need a solid understanding of HTML/CSS for that.

So the question is more if this can be done with HTML/CSS then if it can be done with DNN.
(which is true for most skinning tasks)
