I just can not figure this out:

I can set up different categories and attributes... when I create a new item I can select certain categories AND attributes. But on the dashboard (or wherever it can be displayed) I can only view items with different categories, not with different attributes, even though I selected different attributes when I was adding the data but there is no way I can show them.

I read the manual and still don't know how to do it... any help will be appreciated.

Sorry, I should probably have an example in the doc, since it's not obvious...

If you create a custom Attribute, for example, let's say 'COLOR'.  There are 3 changes must make to the files for the repository template you're using in addition to defining the Attribute on the Settings page, add tags to the Form.html/xml files let the uploaded specify the values for that Attribute when uploading or editing an item, add tags to the Template.html/xml files to display the values in the item listing, and add tags to the Header.html/xml files to add an Attribute combobox if you want your users to be able to 'filter' the list based on Attribute values.

I think you've got the first 2 okay, so all you would need to do is add '[LABEL:Color] and [ATTRIBUTE:COLOR] tags to your Header.html file. That will render a dropdown list of the COLOR values, and it will work just like the Categories dropdown. Selecting a value will filter the list to items that have that value selected. NOTE: All the selection criteria in the Header.html file is cumulative, so if you select a category in the dropdown AND select an Attribute, only items that have BOTH that Category and Attribute value will be shown.

Thanks for the response.

But I still can not make it work. Do you mind posting a simple working version so I would know exactly where and how to add them?

Also I have many attributes (lets say 20) and each attribute has many values (lets say 20 again). Do I have to manually add them to the three different files (actually total 6) in order to display them?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Hi -

I still can not get this work. Any further help would be appreciated. Or, maybe the next release will make this easier?

Thanks.

Steve,

I managed to add City to my Attributes, and added the Dropdown for City on the Header file.

My question is this: Is it possible to reference this attribute in the URL string so that I can create a link somewhere else on my website to go directly to a specific category and attribute.  I managed to figure out that "Default.aspx?grm2catid=41" will take me directly to the category 41, but is the same possible for attributes?

Thanks

Robert
