sI have several DNN sites hosted with a host who up till now has been ok with the permission requirements of a DNN install, however they no longer are prepared to do it. I did trial a couple of sites on Mosso and they required me to add the <identity impersonate... tag to my web.config file using the account details that the site was created with. This apparently negated the need for giving the network service the write permissions (they told me they wouldn't do that).

Can some-one please confirm that this is a workable alternative to the permissions issue and if so what, if anything, has to be done at the host end to enable this to work correctly.

Cheers

Provided they grant the account the same access as the Network Service account, this works fine.  Many hosts will use an alternate account for the process account, this is even encouraged in IIS 7.5.  But in most hosts you don't need to grant this account access, it is granted access by default.
