Clean install of 5.1.1. At first I got 'continual redirect' sorts of errors but those cleared up on their own. However, subsequent to that we installed dotnetframework 3.5 and some patches that followed. Now I cannot log in due to js errors on page.

Clearing browser cache does nothing; similar results Opera 9.6, IE 8, Firefox 3.5.1

Web.Config has System.Web.Extensions, Version=3.5.0.0 in all pertinent places

Should I reinstall?

i assume "heartland" is a virtual directory? If it is I'd check your root website and make sure it doesn't have a web.config that is affecting this - web.config settings are inherited in vdir's (I've seen similar errors where a root website run ajax 1.6 and the vdir tried to run 3.5)

Thanks, Cathal ...

'heartland' is indeed a virtual directory; however, it is also the 0 portal.

I just did a complete uninstall and reinstall and everything is good.

doing a compare between the web.config for the install that didn't work and the web.config file currently in place, the only two differences are the install date and the machine key.

No other web.config files in play here, are there? Seems like possibly a caching issue but the server got rebooted twice during the application of 3.5 framework and patches.

??

EDIT: I did check the web root. There is a web.config file referenced in the properties of the web root, but there is no actual web.config file in that location.
