I just upgraded my DNN test site from 4.6.2, using Newsfeeds 3.1.1, to DNN 4.9.4, and Newsfeeds 4.0.1; and my iTunes podcast feed, which worked like a clock in Newsfeeds 3.1.1, now gives me the "download error" message.  I read in at least one post here that the culprit is the dreaded "dtd" statement in my iTunes RSS statement:

<rss
    xmlns:itunes="http://www.itunes.com/DTDs/Podcast-1.0.dtd"
    version="2.0">

This is now apparently considered a security hole.  I just checked the Apple site, and that statement is still required if you want to create an iTunes podcast feed.  I have to have this feed, and it has to be an iTunes feed.  This means I can't put Newsfeeds 4.0.1 on my production site.

In my production upgrade, of course, I simply won't "install" the 4.0.1 Newsfeeds module; but I'd like to get my test site working.  Is there a source from which I could download the older Newsfeeds code, or do I have to blow the site away, reinstall and reupgrade?

Thanks for your advice.

you can uninstall News module (all instances will be deleted!) and re-install previous version.

Another option is to use XMS/XSL for your purpose, which has the same functionality like previous news module.

Well, yes, but where do I get the code for the previous version?  Out of the 4.6.2 install package?  It doesn't seem to be there.  I ask because, while I can find the download source for DNN legacy versions, and for the module current versions, I can't find a download source for the module legacy versions.

I tried using the XMS/XLS module, and it read the feed, but it didn't format anything, it just dumped a blob of raw HTML into the field.  Not user friendly at all.
