i had connected the website to the server. However, i wish to change the name of the url to a more suitable name

I add the http alias name but it doesn't work.

Anyone can provide me a solution?

I'm not familiar with the DNN.Hope someone can help!pls..

Changing a portal alias is only one part of the step - you need to tell IIS the new information too. did you do that?

And in IIS you may need to make sure the old one is removed as it may look for the first one which is wrong. Sometimes when I make changes like that I have to open the web.config file and 'touch it' - by that I mean add a line or two down the bottom and then save.

That resets the site, similar to restarting the appliction.

Give that a try.

You also need to have a DNS record for the new portal name to point the new name to the same IP that IIS answers on.
