Are there any plans to fix the forums to work on DDN 4?  The core reason I am looking at using DNN is for free forums.  I don't want to buy something when there are plenty of other free forums out there.  DNN looked nice, but if the current version doesn't support forums that kind of eliminates DNN for me.

The next update to the forum module was recently (2 days ago) discussed here.

If all one is looking for is a tight, robust, FREE forum... then DNN might not be the right solution. The forum module is a part of DNN- not an end unto itself.

I installed DotNetNuke_Forum_03.20.01_Install.zip and everything seemed to work until I left the site (closed the browser).

However, now when I try to build the website I get 4 errors about the Gallery missing.  The first one is:  Error 1 Error parsing attribute 'enableEventValidation': Could not load file or assembly 'DotNetNuke.Modules.Gallery, Version=3.0.11.3077, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified. C:\src\APSCommunity\DesktopModules\Forum\Integration\Integration_GalleryAddAlbum.aspx 1

I have virtually no experience with VS and .NET developement so please excuse my ignorance in this area.  I didn't install the gallery so the error appears to be obvious that I need to install the gallery, but from posts in the gallery forum that sounds like a bad idea since it doesn't work with DNN 4 anyway.

Is there some easy way to tell the forums to not use the Gallery?

I started off wanting just a forum, and that is still the core thing that I want, but I really like how DNN looks and the other features.  I have the forum installed, but am now getting errors in the gallery (previous post).  I do need file attachement support, and from what I can tell you have to have the gallery for that, is that a correct assumption?

Attachments seem to be a problem. Attachments actualy have nothing to do with the gallery though.
