I'm sorry if this is covered in a thread already, but whenever I do a search it ALWAYS times out :o(

My scenarion is thus ... on a development server we have installed DNN 5, and a portal has been created and a shed load of content has been entered.

I now need to move this content from development and into a QA environment, and I haven't the foggiest of how to go about it. Obviously we will need to install our skins and modules onto the QA server, but how do I get all of the content into the QA database, and are there any hard coded paths included, for example when I look at host settings I can see a physical path for the DNN installation, does this have any bearing on anything?.

Thanks in advance.

When I need to move the whole site, here is what I do in a few general steps:

1. Add new web aliases that the site is going to have
2. Back up the data base
3. Zip up the whole site content
4. Restore the data base into the SQL server I'm moving it to
5. Unzip the site into the web folder
6. Do all the check ups and adjustments if necessary

It works for me every time I do that.

My two cents,

Val
