What is the difference between the different versions?

I understand that the source has the VB code with it and the install edition has them compiled as .dlls

But, how is the starter kit different?

starter kit allows you to choose from categories templates:

personal site, small business, organization or club...

Then it adds the the pages needed to make the template, and to be honest I haven't messed with it in some time. I also think it adds modules in order to make those pages work. Like for instance: guestbook page for the business template it will add the guestbook module.

It's just like the asp.net starter kit.
