I have DNN installed in a school. Each teacher has their own portal. I'm using only NT authentication. We're encouraging the teachers to start using blogs and forums. So we've turned on user registration so that students can register on teacher portals. Well, once a student registers on one teacher portal, they can't register on another teacher portal because their user name already exists in the database.

Someone please tell me there's a workaround so that I don't have to manually add students to portals in the database!

And please forgive me if this topic has been covered - can't seem to search the DNN forums anymore without timing out...

Thanks

they have to register using the same credentials - user name, password and email address.

I used Dynamic Login to allow for "single registration" (register once, get credentials to multiple portals)  Distinctly different from "single sign on" (login once, be authenticated in multiple portals).   Works well...but wish it was single sign on.

In the registration form, there should be a way the user can choose the portals to register for. I.e. if there is 5 portals on the site, when the user goes to the register link, the registration form would have a section for signing up for certain portals (each portal would be a checkbox). Then in the code for the website (when creating modules), there could be a boolean field like IsUserRegistered (or whatever you want to call it) that could let us coders be able to check to see if the user has registered for the portal.

I neglected to mention that I'm still on 04.08.04.

And that "same credentials" seems to be the problem. They can't register using a user name that has already been used. I have found out something new and interesting, though. Once a student has registered on one portal, they can login on another portal (on which they are not registered). The first attempt fails (somewhere in assigning the roles). On the second attempt, they can login and have been automatically authorized and given Registered and Subscriber roles! And this happens on portals with registration disabled!  Perhaps that's the solution - register once, then simply login to additional portals.
