it is difficult to analyse the cause of an app error - like on Win 9x, where you never knew, when to face a blue screen.

You should add monitoring to your site to get informed, whenever the site is not available.

Hi Sebastian,

Can you recommend a few examples of monitoring?  I have a client that has asked about this.

Thanks
Bill

Bill,

well known providers of monitoring services are www.host-tracker.com and mo.itor.us (free) / www.monitis.com

The site went down at least a couple more times over the weekend - we do have monitoring in place and it was picked up.

Our only solution is to just update the web.config to force a re-compilation of the site. This works!

However we have to stop this error reoccuring. I have tried numerous Googles on this error and just can't find any information, so does anyone have any ideas as to what is causing this - we are really stuck!

All help would be really gratefully appreciated.

did you review Windows event log? if the app was halted by windows or IIS, it will be logged here. Sometimes modules exaggerate memory consumption or CPU time, and the worker process is halted.
