Does anyone know what I may be doing wrong? I tried the method that Joe suggested but I doesn't return the logged in user.

This could be a dumb question.  Does your $.ajax command send the cookies?

Actually, that's not a dumb question at all.

I checked and the cookie is being transferred over the wire. I tested this with Fiddler2 and verified it was the same cookie that is stored in the browser.

Any other ideas? Anything helps. :-)

Never tried this - so here is more guesswork.  Standard ASP.Net should authenticate you via modules in the HTTP Pipeline.  See if you can find any evidance that is working.

Call somthing like System.Web.Security.MembershipUser.GetUser and see what you get back.

If that shows you are authenticated then there is some DNN code that you need to get executed too - and that's probably beyond me.

Best wishes,

I think you may be on to something there, Richard. I haven't had time to play with it, but the theory goes like this. DNN is a single aspx page, Default.aspx. Somehow it can leverage the DNN Framework, so I'm sure within there lies the code that will help me. Maybe it is something like System.Web.Security.MembershipUser.GetUser. All of this is beyond me. I wonder if assistance in this area is covered by DNN Professional support?
