Why is the code written like this and what advantages is there with sending email async?

If sendAsync Then

objThread.Start()

Dim objThread As New System.Threading.Thread(AddressOf objFeedbackEmail.SendEmail)Else

sending async means, this is executed in a dedicated parallel background task, while the user may continue working on the site.

When considering the app pool reccle problem wich one is the more reliable. SSending email instantly or async? It sounds like sending email insantly is safer out of perspective of knowing the email has been delivered. Are you normally using async when sending many emails?
